They have a wide variety of sizes including diaper bags, accessories and children's jewelry. Cainan is fast!

I recently did an outdoor session with little Cainan and his mommy, Amie. They were so much fun and little Cainan was so energetic! I was completely exhausted after chasing him around with my camera for two hours, but we ended up with some really great pictures :) I am already looking forward to working with Amie and Cainan again soon! Thanks guys!

A small break with special people.

I recently had the opportunity to spend a few nights with my best friend, Therese and her boyfriend Jonas. They are from Denmark and due to life's complications we haven't seen each other in 5 years. We had such a great visit and I did a photo session with Therese and Jonas which you'll see soon, but I wanted to share some pictures that were snapped when the camera was turned on me. These photos are all from last week during our visit.

High School Seniors

This is the video I prepared for the Club Fair at Rowan County Senior High.

Wonderful Wednesday

I am so delighted to report some news updates this morning.

1. Cara Demoss is one of my Rowan County Senior Ambassadors and she contacted me last night to inquire about Homecoming Dance photos. She will be hosting a pre-dance party and I will be setting up for Homecoming Dance photos at Cara's party. Being my first dance pictures I'm terribly excited about getting this experience under my belt! Now, the only problem is is that I've never seen a dance photo that is modern and emulative of my style. So, I've got to put my thinking cap on and come up with some clever ideas and super cool pictures!

2. Josh Bieker contacted me this morning about doing band pictures as he has just opened a locally owned and maintained Recording Studio in Morehead called Stereo Image Studio. All genres of music are welcome at his studio. For more information about Josh's services you can contact him through his Myspace page: Stereo Image Studio
Best of luck with the new business, Josh!

3. OK, I have to post this most awesome compliment I received the other evening while shopping at Wal-Mart. I ran into a girl I went to high school with and she said "I hear you're the best kept secret in Morehead"...Yes, I simply smiled and laughed but on the inside, I was doing cartwheels and screaming at the top of my lungs. I know it sounds crazy, but this is still a very young business, so I'm allowed to get ridiculously excited and hopeful at this stage:) yay! A BIG "thank you" to all my wonderful clients. I do appreciate you guys with all my heart!

Weddings galore & foreigners too!

And suddenly its wedding season again! There is a definite trend towards Fall weddings over Spring weddings (well at least judging by my calendar this year). The next several weekends are filled with wedding bliss for me and I can't wait. I do love me a good wedding. I might be scared to death of having my own, but I love capturing all the emotion of the wedding day. Its a magical time!

I am also happy to announce that my best friend Therese, who I have not seen in exactly 5 years
is in the states with her boyfriend Jonas (whom I've never met) and will be landing here in Morehead next Saturday! I absolutely can't wait! I haven't been this excited in ever. Therese lives in Denmark and we met in high school during her foreign exchange and have been best friends every since. We were lucky to be able to spend the summers together; she would come here or I'd spend the summer with her in Copenhagen. However, after I started a family and Therese continued her education we've just not been able to make a visit happen lately (its VERY expensive to boot).

Anyways, Therese and Jonas are driving cross country and back again and we will have 3 nights here in Morehead and 2 nights in Gatlinburg with them! It is the highlight of my year and I can't wait! Below are a couple pictures of my best friend, Therese and me!

Spotlight: Custom Invitations/Cards

It is an added bonus when your photographer has a background in graphic design. My bachelors degree is Communications with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations. It was all those ad design classes that gave me the love of graphic art. After college I continued my passion for graphic design with self development courses, seminars, and endless research. I worked as a freelance graphic artist for several years, before developing my love of photography into a business. So, if you're even still reading this history lesson you're probably wondering what does this have to do with anything??? Well, it is to introduce you to the endless possibilities of what a graphic-designer-turned-photographer can offer YOU. Today's spotlight is on Custom Invitations/Cards.

To join Chrissy Perkins Photography mailing list, please send an email with your address to receive samples of our custom invitations/cards (chrissyperkinsphotography@yahoo.com)

Harleys are happening.

It seems lately that Harley's have been a recurring theme. I've had three shoots lately with Harleys. It was funny, I obviously know nothing about these monsters, because I told one lady that we could absolutely take pictures with her husband's Harley, but that there was a step into my studio, so we'd just have to lift it over (800 lbs. later) ...hahahaha! Anyhow, here are a couple samples from the Harley's that have been happening lately! ;)

P.S. Be sure to tell all your Harley friends where to get their Summer Harley Shots!

Daddies and Babies

I have a arrangement of framed prints in my studio. The one that always gets the most attention is the photo of Jack Hughes and his then-newborn baby girl, MaKayla. Almost everyone that enters my studio comments on it. There is something magical about seeing a daddy craddle his precious baby. So, I'm devoting today's blog to dad's everywhere! Shed some love on your little one today!

Spotlight: Cara the Ambassador

I'm proud to post some pictures from my first Senior Ambassador photo session. Cara is one of my Senior Ambassadors from Rowan County High School and I have to say she is as sweet as she is adorable. We did an outdoor session by the lake and followed up with a studio session revolving around her soccer athletics. It was both fun-filled and productive sessions. I look forward to having Cara represent Chrissy Perkins Photography at Rowan County High School.

THANKS CARA!

Studio Expansion & Purchasing Sessions

I am happy to announce that we've officially added a new room to my studio. It is my new waiting room/meeting room and will also be used for some natural light portraits. This use to be our master bedroom, but the need for more space has moved us into the spare bedroom. I'm really excited about this addition to my business.

I will no longer be including proofs with my session fee. Now that I have the additional space, I will be scheduling a purchasing session after your photo session. A purchasing sessions is an appointment in which all the decision makers are available and we will review your photos at that time on a state of the art plasma screen. We will discuss your purchasing options, products that are available and this will be your opportunity to place your order.

My Mason and his lack of photos.

If Mason is home while I am having a photo shoot at some point he is allowed to come out and either award the well behaved child with a sucker or just say "HI" to the newly engaged couple. It never fails, that someone will say to me "you must have SO many wonderful pictures of your son". I usually just nod and smile.

So, today I am blogging out the truth! I have so few portraits of Mason. He acts so funny in front of my camera and he has to have his Nemo blanket in his lap, wrapped around his hand with the "hole" wrapped around his fingers while he incessanty rubs it and his thumb in his mouth (yeah, he might have a little OCD). Its a sight to behold, so yeah, I snap photos, but I can barely get a glimpse of him under all that action.

So, over the last two days, I've tried my darn'dest to grab a few pics of my wonderful son between photo shoots. Below you'll see what fun pics we ended up with and trust me these were as candid as they come!

Senior Ambassadors Class of 2009

I just wanted to give a shot out to all my Senior Ambassadors for the Class of 2009! I've got an awesome bunch to work with this year and I'm really excited to get these girls in front of my lens.

I selected four girls to represent Chrissy Perkins Photography from three area high schools. The following are my 2009 Senior Ambassadors:

Brittany Hamilton representing West Carter High School
Brittany Riggs representing Elliot County High School
Cara Demoss representing Rowan County High School
Kelli Oldham representing Rowan County High School

Congratulations Ladies!

Action Photo Sessions

I have to tell you about a new style of photography I've enjoyed shooting lately. It's about action and being in the moment. It goes beyond the borders of being posed and opens up a whole new realm of how a photo is made. Imagine swimming at the lake, flying kites, running through a wildflower field, or simply climbing a tree. These are some excellent ways to get a true representation of the person and better yet, the emotion of the moment.

If you're interested in having an Action Photo Session ($45 session fee), contact me at 606.462.0585 for more details!

Below are some snapshots from Kaden's Action Session last week:

Spotlight: Kids of Summer

It seems that the hot summer days have brought the kiddies out in full force. Lately, it seems that over half of my appointments have been children. I love doing photos of children because there is so much mystery, creativity, and honesty in the photos. Children are so pure and I do my very best to capture their true spirit and according to "mom" and "dad" it usually works!

When it comes to small children, it isn't a delicate art to get a good picture from them. I simply allow them some space and time to familiarize themselves with me and the studio. Once, they are comfortable, I don't direct them so much as allow them freedom to roam and explore. My kid pictures are about 70% candid & 30% posed.

If there is one thing I believe in, it is that children do not need much direction on how to be adorable: they naturally are! Just watch and in their most innocent of moments, will be the glimpse of pure perfection.

Here are some kiddies I played with last week:

"Blake"

"Brady"

"Riley"

"Emily"
