Spotlight: Cara the Ambassador

I'm proud to post some pictures from my first Senior Ambassador photo session. Cara is one of my Senior Ambassadors from Rowan County High School and I have to say she is as sweet as she is adorable. We did an outdoor session by the lake and followed up with a studio session revolving around her soccer athletics. It was both fun-filled and productive sessions. I look forward to having Cara represent Chrissy Perkins Photography at Rowan County High School.

THANKS CARA!

Studio Expansion & Purchasing Sessions

I am happy to announce that we've officially added a new room to my studio. It is my new waiting room/meeting room and will also be used for some natural light portraits. This use to be our master bedroom, but the need for more space has moved us into the spare bedroom. I'm really excited about this addition to my business.

I will no longer be including proofs with my session fee. Now that I have the additional space, I will be scheduling a purchasing session after your photo session. A purchasing sessions is an appointment in which all the decision makers are available and we will review your photos at that time on a state of the art plasma screen. We will discuss your purchasing options, products that are available and this will be your opportunity to place your order.

My Mason and his lack of photos.

If Mason is home while I am having a photo shoot at some point he is allowed to come out and either award the well behaved child with a sucker or just say "HI" to the newly engaged couple. It never fails, that someone will say to me "you must have SO many wonderful pictures of your son". I usually just nod and smile.

So, today I am blogging out the truth! I have so few portraits of Mason. He acts so funny in front of my camera and he has to have his Nemo blanket in his lap, wrapped around his hand with the "hole" wrapped around his fingers while he incessanty rubs it and his thumb in his mouth (yeah, he might have a little OCD). Its a sight to behold, so yeah, I snap photos, but I can barely get a glimpse of him under all that action.

So, over the last two days, I've tried my darn'dest to grab a few pics of my wonderful son between photo shoots. Below you'll see what fun pics we ended up with and trust me these were as candid as they come!

Senior Ambassadors Class of 2009

I just wanted to give a shot out to all my Senior Ambassadors for the Class of 2009! I've got an awesome bunch to work with this year and I'm really excited to get these girls in front of my lens.

I selected four girls to represent Chrissy Perkins Photography from three area high schools. The following are my 2009 Senior Ambassadors:

Brittany Hamilton representing West Carter High School
Brittany Riggs representing Elliot County High School
Cara Demoss representing Rowan County High School
Kelli Oldham representing Rowan County High School

Congratulations Ladies!

Action Photo Sessions

I have to tell you about a new style of photography I've enjoyed shooting lately. It's about action and being in the moment. It goes beyond the borders of being posed and opens up a whole new realm of how a photo is made. Imagine swimming at the lake, flying kites, running through a wildflower field, or simply climbing a tree. These are some excellent ways to get a true representation of the person and better yet, the emotion of the moment.

If you're interested in having an Action Photo Session ($45 session fee), contact me at 606.462.0585 for more details!

Spotlight: Kids of Summer

It seems that the hot summer days have brought the kiddies out in full force. Lately, it seems that over half of my appointments have been children. I love doing photos of children because there is so much mystery, creativity, and honesty in the photos. Children are so pure and I do my very best to capture their true spirit and according to "mom" and "dad" it usually works!

When it comes to small children, it isn't a delicate art to get a good picture from them. I simply allow them some space and time to familiarize themselves with me and the studio. Once, they are comfortable, I don't direct them so much as allow them freedom to roam and explore. My kid pictures are about 70% candid & 30% posed.

If there is one thing I believe in, it is that children do not need much direction on how to be adorable: they naturally are! Just watch and in their most innocent of moments, will be the glimpse of pure perfection.

Here are some kiddies I played with last week:

Family Reunion on July 4th Weekend

Every year, we celebrate our Wright Family Reunion here in Morehead at the ever-famous Cave Run Lake. Each year this joyous event takes place on the July 4th weekend. Last year I was elected to the Vice President position and I was re-elected again this year. It was an awesome good time, however it was a small group as many of our family members were unable to attend. During our event, I actually had my camera turned on me and have since discovered a few pictures of me and my boys that are worth sharing.

Again, it seems we never have pictures of ourselves together (me, nick & Mason), so I thought it worth sharing. This was positively the best July 4th holiday I've ever had. What a wonderful weekend with so many wonderful people to share it with!

My cute little family (my brother took this):

What a dirty little boy!
We're finally engaged after 5 years, a 3-year-old, and a fat mortgage (aunt wanda took this):

Follow up to June Weddings

As you may recall I did a spotlight on one of my couples for their engagement photos and promised to follow up with some shots from their wedding. Matt and Heather's wedding turned out to be a beautiful day and I completely adored being a part of their special memories. Their colors were black and hot pink and the wedding was located in West Liberty, KY outside a family member's home. Below are some snapshots of the day:
